ECU Orientation Week Graphic Design
Client | Edith Cowan University
If you’ve visited Edith Cowan University’s Joondalup campus recently you may have spotted the original artwork Known Associates Australia commissioned via our very own in-house design trainee and office superstar, Shannon Walding. It’s an honour and part of our ethos to provide Shannon opportunities like this.
Known Associates Australia worked with Shannon to create artwork rich in symbolism and cultural significance, united with ECU themes. On the left, intricate patterns depict the students’ journey through school and the wisdom imparted by their Elders during their time at ECU. The Elders, placed near the cockatoo, emphasise their cultural ties and their roles as teachers and guardians.
On the right side, two connected campfires symbolise the unity between the Mt. Lawley and Joondalup campuses. The cockatoo, prominently positioned off-centre, stands out against the bright background, linking with the Ngoolark building’s exterior.
Bright yellows, inspired by the Cultural Reflection – Ngoolark video, integrate seamlessly with the building’s design.
This cohesive use of colour and symbolism creates a meaningful representation of the students’ journey, the Elders’ wisdom, and the community’s cultural heritage.
We love seeing the talents of our team showcased from conception to final product.
