With Destiny’s Child’s Independent Woman as the opening soundtrack, the 2018 inaugural Women of Substance Luncheon hit an inspirational note from the start.
On a picture-perfect spring day, Fraser’s Reception Centre in Kings Park provided a magnificent setting for an empowering day to raise funds for Breast Cancer Care WA.
Major sponsor DR Anh Nguyen said: “This is a room full of angels, leaders and trailblazers.”
Each table featured a woman of substance including chief executive BCCWA Zoe McAlpine, Lifeline WA chief executive Lorna MacGregor, Professor Colleen Hayward, Camilla Australia chief executive Jane McNally and The West Australian’s Weekend West editor Julie Hosking.
Sunrise Cambodia founder and cancer survivor Geraldine Cox brought the house down with her speech and there was thunderous applause for host Ros Worthington, who had the last word: “Please leave with a full heart, knowing you’ve contributed to a wonderful cause.”
