Kings of the Kitchen Gala Dinner
Client | The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award in WA
Location | Grand Ballroom, Crown Perth
In a very rare visit, His Royal Highness, Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex KG GCVO kindly offered a memorable and special opportunity to raise funds to support the efforts in making The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award in Western Australia more accessible to disadvantaged youth.
Known Associates were thrilled to be appointed Event Managers for the Royal Gala Event, Kings of the Kitchen! (Did we get to meet the Prince you ask? – yes, yes we did! He was pretty groovy.)
At $700 per head, the exclusive black tie gala dinner showcased a premium line up of chefs who designed and cooked a seven course degustation menu, accompanied by specially selected boutique wines from the Western Australian wine region, to complement each course. NB: wine tasting for this event was a real drag – kidding!
Chefs included:
Dany Angove – Leeuwin Estate
Scott Brannigan – Balthazar Bar Restaurant
Stephen Clarke – Clarke’s of North Beach
Leif Huru – Nobu Perth
Sean Marco – Crown Perth Events and Conferences
Chris Taylor - Fraser’s Restaurant Kings Park
Hadleigh Troy - Restaurant Amusé
Ed Halmagyi (Fast Ed from Better Homes and Garden) took guests on a culinary journey throughout the evening as Master of Ceremonies. Live cameras followed Ed as he interviewed the celebrity chefs “on the couch” on stage and back of house in the Crown’s kitchens as they plated up their gourmet delights.
Guests were treated to a flourish of entertainment, a vibrant live auction hosted by renowned comedian, Peter Rowsthorn, featuring amazing items such as a ‘Return trip to London for the World Rugby Cup’, as well as interviews with young achievers and an address by His Royal Highness, The Earl of Wessex, Prince Edward.
The evening marked the first ever fundraising dinner for The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award in WA and raised over $100,000 for less fortunate young people to participate and achieve their Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award in 2015 and beyond.
